Cannot connect to MySQL via XAMP

it has been headache for me to connect to MySQL

i am using windows 8.

I have been trying to connect to the MYSQL. I am using XAMPP control panel v3.2.1. The Apache is working fine but when i am going start the mysql then it says that server could not be connected.

i have install xamp on my D drive because i am using VS-2012 on C Drive. i worked both with Apache and mysql works good at last night but later i can not start the mysql service on the contrary the apache works good. some one says that because of skype some times it may occur problem. i stooped the skype and try but not working

Any error message appear on the control panel window?

try this..............
you can check port no.i feel u r pot number 8080 can be used another application. u can check which application use which port .
