im just trying to some low level programing in free basic to explain to my six year old son that computers aren't magical and that there programed by people and the computer does exactly as its told. anyway I wanted to write a simple program for him to play with where hes a spy hacking into a computer to try to disengage a nuclear missile and save the world. the program is basically user input and various out comes printed on the screen. I wanted it to go like this: "whats your name?" "hello name I am the computer." " The missile is about to launch do you wish to disengage?" "y/n?" yes asks for a password and then congratulates him for saving the world. no says missile will launch in t- 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1... the world is now devoid of all life only you are left goodbye.

When I try to do this I can get the program to except the first userinput but not anything else and don't know what im doing wrong.

If anybody could help I really know very little.

"Basic" ... meaning "QuickBASIC"? If "yes" Then respect the following comment: "That program is practically fifteen years old .. try googling the words "Visual Basic .NET". If "no" Then "Whatever ... try googling the words "Visual Basic .NET"

"im doing wrong", well the very first thing that you are doing wrong is assuming that we can see your code and/or read your mind to know what it is that you have done.
