Hi experts,

sorry, no tech question this time.

My employer produces nice electronical devices. That software I'm developing communicates with them through FTDI[^] FT232 chips. We need to change several entries in the according driver's .inf files (e.g. PID, but not VID). FTDI provides a neat driver configuration tool for that.

At the end user's side, it would be nice to have the changed drivers signed again. Especially regarding the rise of the 64bit Windows systems and their antipathy against installing unsigned drivers.

There's a bunch of documents to read up on how software signing works (being so much, it makes for a strange humming in my head already). But employer is mostly interested in cost vs customer satisfaction.

Does anyone know of a price list for signing drivers?

Only the .inf file is changed, binaries stay untouched. There must be a rebate for that, but how much is it in the end?

Thanks in advance.

Do you know if Microsoft accepts them for signing driver packages?
From what I read at MS itself, they seem to support Verisign only.
