How to give alphabetical serial no to gridview

I have ten records having flag 1 then there serial no is like a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,i,j.
Now suppose i set a flag equals to 0 then there sequence will change then i want a logic like that if suppose i set flag =0 or 1 it has to show sequence as a,b,c,d,e,g,f,h,i,j.

What are your goals here: I'm sure you want to do something more than move the position of one character in a string, based on a change in a 'flag'variable. Are you trying to assign a unique key to each set of records, or classify each group of records to indictat they share the same internal order ? Tell us what you are doing now, what the problem is, and give us much more information about what the solution you need requires.
