Developing an application in .Net for detecting who plugs out the head phone from the computer and then logging the details

Hello All,

The application should be in .Net and Language used will be C#. Please help.

I want to develop an application in which when some body takes out the head phone from my system and uses in his own system then that information be logged in some log file. There may be around 100 systems in which theft can happen so what I want is , if some guys takes out the head phone from two or three system and puts in their own systems so that information be logged so that theft can be avoided. Can any body please help.

Solution 1

Not possible, sorry. There's not events in windows that say when the computer speakers (headphones) are unplugged. There's also nothing that you can put into your computer that says those phones are plugged into another computer (you can't load software on headphones).

You could make a device to do this, like Arduino with a USB connection back to the computer and a headphones pass-through, but there's nothing you can do without extra hardware.

Is it at least possible to catch the event when the device is plugged/unplugged.

It is possible for Relatex sound cards - might be for others as well, but not sure - just google it :P
