Fill bootstrap editable type 'select' as dropdown dynamically

Currently in my website filling bootstrap editable dropdown on page load

var statusList =[];
set statusList = 'getting data'
$('#UserStatusID').editable({
type: 'select',
url: '../Handler.ashx',
title: 'Select Status',
source: statusList
});
..... next dropdown etc

I used above filling code on click event of the button , actually lines normally executed . no error but dropdown source not changed.

How can do this
