Hello Technical folk

I'm an amateur games designer and I have developed a card strategy game with the same type of gameplay/logic as chess (but better, obviously, in my opinion). As well as a physical version, I think this would make a great 1 - 4 player app.

I know almost nothing about programming (Fortran at A level a few decades ago) so could anybody recommend an app. programmer or firm who might be interested in partnering in a business venture to develop and market the game.

Thanks very much

That isn't really what we are here for - we aren't necessarily in the right market and we can't really help that much as you probably need someone reasonably local to you (or control / interaction can get to be a real PITA). And we don't know where you are.

In addition, you probably need to reveal a lot more of the game idea before anyone is going to be interested in partnering - I'm sure it is a brilliant game, but I'd want to try it for myself before investing my time in the project rather than being paid directly for my efforts. To this end, you will probably want to look at sorting out an NDA and working out a good description of the game and your estimate of the size of the market before you try to find a partner.

If it is that good, have you considered contacting game companies? They will at least have a good idea of the marketing strategy / costs that will be involved (and they will probably be a lot higher than any software development costs)

You would need to find one for yourself from sites such as these[^]. But you will find the quality of the results will be directly proportional to how much you are prepared to pay.

Thanks OriginalGriff for your advice and Richard for the links. I realise this is not really a "touting for business" type site/forum but I'm just after a few ideas where to start and your thoughts have given me that.

I did begin to work with a uni lecturuer in games design who briefly games tested with me and really liked the core mechanics and market potential. Unfortunately, he had to pull out because of work and study commitments. I'll also try that route as well - masters coursework project etc.

Thanks again for your help - any other ideas gratefully received.

Gareth (near Bishops Stortford, Herts btw)
