Restyle WPF Menu to support image

I have a problem that i hope to find its answer here. So basically i have a standard menu which is formed by an icon a separator and a menu item name. I want to be able to rewrite this to only support an image using a hierarchicaldatatemplate.

How is that possible? Any hints would be good. Thanks
