adding resources in.net

I have a small problem. When we add resources to our .net projects and when we build the project , does the resources get automatically embedded in the exe file?

what i mean is i just noticed that i shipped an application to my friend which had only exe file and some dlls, but the icons and other data files (present in the resources were not given). Still the application was running.

Can anyone explain why this happened?

Yes, they automatically get added to the assembly binary if you set it up that way (which is the default).
