Hi,

We have an assignment where we have to work on a review modal using bayesian formula. Can anybody help me with any real life example in a simple language with an example in a c# programing fashion. My problem is that I have no clue for exactly as how to apply the bayesian formula in the situations where the no. of reviews are in hundreds and thousands no. and when the no. of reviews are 1 or 2 then a constant is to be fixed which is not clear as how to go about it.

Anybody with a clear understanding about bayesian average rating explanation in simple language? who can put a deep light on bayesian average rating system.

Thanks in anticipation...

First google for "

bayesian average rating system
Add "c#" to the end of that search and you will find this How to calculate Bayesian Average Rating using Bayesian Formula[^] (presumably one of your classmates). A solution has already been posted there

Thanks CHill60 for your quick reply. Off course, I googled it for many hours and found numerous articles and links for Bayesian Ratings but could not connect it with mathematically with our c# and .dot net language.
I simply want something which can explain the whole Bayesian Ratings with exploring real life situations with the applied formula with explanation in simple English so that I can also be able to understand and apply in my assignment as I do not have mathematical background and all the explanations are of high end.

Hope you will understand. I want Bayesian Ratings with real life examples let say there is just one person who has rated a product in a category called Air conditioner and now my real problem is this how I should implement and display the review score for this result because no constant has been referred here.

Thanks in anticipation for your help.

Ok ... I did some digging and tried to find an example that isn't too "mathy" and the best examples seem to be around the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) ... just substitute "Air Conditioner" for "Movie". Have a look at this link http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_does_true_Bayesian_estimate_mean_in_connection_with_the_IMDb_Top_250_ratings[^] - I think it's a reasonably good explanation without being too technical. There is also quite a simple formula explained http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1411199/what-is-a-better-way-to-sort-by-a-5-star-ratinghere target="_blank" title="New Window">^]
