How to do check disk programmatically

Hi,

I want to do the operation of check disk through program.. Is it possible?

If yes, How can it be done ?

If no, How does backup softwares does this operation? Is there any alternative method?

It's possible but not a good idea - see http://forums.codeguru.com/showthread.php?138817-Help-chkdsk[^]. Are you sure that's what you really want to do ... backup software is unlikely to check the disk.

As far as I know, backup software don't verify the disk itself but will check if the copy they made is identical to the original.
