As far as I know, doing that require to write a driver... In some case, a sound card might have an "input" that is the output. If this is the case, you should see it in Windows mixer.

If your monitor or PC doesn't have built-in speakers, attaching external speakers might help...

Nowadays technologies are so developed that they free developers from having to cover much of the 'technical' aspects of their job and let them concentrate on the core issues they have.
