Report designed in (RDL) MSS2008 R2 Report Builder (3.0) bind to Microsoft report viewer control version 9 error

when binding a Report designed in (RDL) MSS2008 R2 Report Builder (3.0) to VS 2008 Microsoft report viewer control version 9 gives below error.

The report definition is not valid. Details: The report definition has an invalid target namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2010/01/reportdefinition' which cannot be upgraded.

please note Report Processing mode is Local.

I tried manually renaming RDL into RDLC but it gives the same error.

Reports created with VS2008 (RDLC) can bind to the report viewer control successfully.

Is it not possible to bind reports designed in MSS2008R2 to report viewer? or is there another way to convert RDL to RDLC?
