No results when searching with special characters in custom metadata property

We have an issue with SharePoint 2010 Search. We have Transaction Type as the managed properties.

In advanced search web part, when searched for Transaction Type CONTAINS Non-Disclosure. Its gives expected result. But when you try to search for Transaction Type EQUALS Non-Disclosure, it fails.

Other values for Transaction Type it works fine.

It works perfectly, except that it doesn't like special characters.

Have anyone ever seen an issue like this and/or know how I can solve this issue?
