Hi all.

I am currently studying a BSc to change career from support type stuff to Developer and while my math skills are acceptable (hence why i am taking a math module) they're not amazing. I wondered what sort of math you use and how much of it you use on a daily basis?

Thanks in advance,
Jonatha

To be honest I use it very little but it depends what sort of software you do and how you choose to do it. Discrete maths is going to be way more useful than calculus unless you're working on astronomy software or something else based in heavy math like advanced financial products. I even once worked on the stats package they use to calculate TV viewing figures in the UK and my maths is pretty hopeless. I didn't really pass the A level and took minimal maths modules in my degree.

Software is art and architecture created by science graduates which is why it's often ugly and falls over a lot :-)
