use java to WRITE A METHOD (source code) PROGRAM USING a Value-Returning Method
public class ValueReturn
{
   public static void main(String[] args)
   {
      int total, value1 = 20, value2 = 40;

total = sum(value1, value2);

public static int sum(int num1, int num2)
{
int result;
result = num1 + num2;
return result;
}

 Create a method program, to calculate the weekly salary.

What I have tried:

public class WeeklySalaryCalculator {

    public static void main(String[] args) {

        int regularPay = 40 * 10; // Assuming $10 per hour and 40 hours of regular work

        int overtimePay = calculateOvertimePay(12, 5); // Assuming $12 per hour and 5 hours of overtime work

        int weeklySalary = sum(regularPay, overtimePay); // Calling the sum method to add up the regular and overtime pay

        System.out.println("Weekly salary: $" + weeklySalary);

    }

    public static int calculateOvertimePay(int hourlyRate, int hoursWorked) {

        int overtimePay = 0;

        if (hoursWorked > 40) {

            int overtimeHours = hoursWorked - 40;

            overtimePay = overtimeHours * (hourlyRate * 2); // Overtime pay is double the regular rate

        }

        return overtimePay;

    }

    public static int sum(int num1, int num2) {

        return num1 + num2;

    }

}

Result;

----jGRASP exec: java WeeklySalaryCalculator

Weekly salary: $400

----jGRASP: operation complete.

We're not going to supply the code for your homework. If you get stuck we will help.

1 solution

While we are more than willing to help those that are stuck, that doesn't mean that we are here to do it all for you! We can't do all the work, you are either getting paid for this, or it's part of your grades and it wouldn't be at all fair for us to do it all for you.

So we need you to do the work, and we will help you when you get stuck. That doesn't mean we will give you a step by step solution you can hand in!
Start by explaining where you are at the moment, and what the next step in the process is. Then tell us what you have tried to get that next step working, and what happened when you did.

Just posting your assignment and some random code isn't going to get you anywhere.

If you are having problems getting started at all, then this may help: How to Write Code to Solve a Problem, A Beginner's Guide[^]
