How to replace JPA repository in my project ? I want to write custom queries

I have started to learn spring-boot framework with JPA and CRUD repositories . Also, I have completed a project using JPA where it is so easy to do crud operations . But, This is making me to miss how to write custom queries and understand the Jdbc properly in depth. So I want to drop the JPA . Please suggest me some good alternatives so that my basics will be clear and should able to learn more.
