Production planning

An agri-food company needs to produce N products 1,2,...,N.

• The cost of producing 1 unit of product i is c(i).

• The area of the field needed to produce 1 unit of product i is a(i)

• The profit obtained from producing 1 unit of product i is f(i).

• Know that m(i) is the minimum number of units of product i that need to be produced when deciding to produce that product.

• The total area of the field is A

• Plan the production so that the total profit is maximized and the total cost of production is less than or equal to a value of C.

What I have tried:

I haven't been able to find a way to solve this problem all week. this really pisses me off

You need to start by finding out the values of A and C. You can then do a few tests to see what values you can get for c(i), a(i) and f(i).

While we are more than willing to help those that are stuck, that doesn't mean that we are here to do it all for you! We can't do all the work, you are either getting paid for this, or it's part of your grades and it wouldn't be at all fair for us to do it all for you.

So we need you to do the work, and we will help you when you get stuck. That doesn't mean we will give you a step by step solution you can hand in!
Start by explaining where you are at the moment, and what the next step in the process is. Then tell us what you have tried to get that next step working, and what happened when you did.

If you are having problems getting started at all, then this may help: How to Write Code to Solve a Problem, A Beginner's Guide[^]
