The report i want to create is

       1 3 5
       2 4 5
Total: 3 7 10

What I have tried:

I tried the summary and the running total function in the crystal report field explorer
and chose sum but it just counts the number of the records
what can be the possible problem
or alternate solutions to compute the sum of the values in the crystal report?

1 solution

See the responses to this CP post HOW to sum column in crystal report[^] or any of the links in the "Related Questions" list to the right of this post.

If you are just getting a count of the number of records then you have forgotten to change the operation to "Sum" from the default "Count"

No, i definitely changed it to sum.
i also tried doing it in the formula and added the formula
Sum({table.Field}) but it says: a number field and a curruncy amount field is required here

table.Field is a numeric type (not a string)?
