My Kubuntu /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_users_watches file contains 8192 which is too low so I've increased it to 16284. This works until I reboot the next day when the file reverts back to 8192. How might I fix this problem?

What I have tried:

I use sudo nano to edit the file.

This question doesn't appear to have anything to do with writing code.

Please ignore my question, I had been editing the wrong file. The correct file is:
/etc/sysctl.conf
.
