I have an idea for a software application and need to find a developer or wants to partner with me on development. Are there forums or sites I can find potential partners? I need someone that is willing to take on full development for equity.

What I have tried:

Starting here with Code Project and unsure where else to go?

Your request is similar too many others: I have an idea; work for free and if there is any money you (may) get some.

"Where" is not here; too many wise to that.

To be honest, I think you will be lucky to find someone who's willing to go with it: without any idea of how much work is going to be involved, how big a market we are taking about, or any idea of what you are putting into the entire project it's kinda difficult to even say "I might be interested" for anyone. And let's be honest here - it sounds a lot like you have no idea how much work is involved (or you'd do it yourself), and that all you are thinking of putting in is the original idea. That's not running it down, but there is a heck of a lot more involved in most projects than "idea ... develop ... profit!" - there is marketing, sales, support, updates, ... a whole of package that a bank calls a "business plan".

So what you are going to have to do is find someone local (or at least in the same country) and sort yourself out an NDA so you can give them at least minimal details sufficient that they know what you expect of them, and they can expect of you - "equity only" means it's a two way street: to get their investment of time and energy back (and software can consume huge amounts of both) they will be depending on you to do your part as well. SO they have to know you and trust you, just as you need to know them, and trust them!

I've been involved in a few of these over the years, and "the idea" is a very small part of the whole package - it's really easy for a load of effort to go into a project that sells one copy and you get peanuts back ...

Good luck - but this is probably the wrong place to look, at least at this stage of your project!
