Hi there,

I have a System Restore Point File, from my Laptop, which I wan't to open on my other main Computer, I copied it from my Laptops System Volume Information Folder, to my Main Computers, System Volume Information Folder, on the C:\ Drive.

However when I use the Programs ShadowExplorer or System Restore Explorer, the System Restore point isn't shown, in the Program Menus, to be able to Mount ? I know I can't restore the Main Computer, with the System Restore point, if I wanted to, as it is from another Computer, but is it possible to, and how would I do it ? To open the contents of the System Restore File, to access the Folders and Files Data ? Which you can do with ShadowExplorer, if the System Restore Point File is recognized and mounted.

Any help and info would be much appreciated.

Best Regards

Eddie Winch

You can't use a restore point from one computer on another: they are specific to the computer they are created on. They are a backup of the registry and some driver files and aren't going to contain anything that will work on the second PC.

You may be able to get some of the info from a file however: System Restore Reference - Win32 apps | Microsoft Docs[^] I'd be very careful though: back up your PC thoroughly before you start playing here!
