ADO.net vs Linq to entities

Dears,
i want to know what is the difference between ADO.net or Linq to entities(edmx) not in how to write your code but who has the best performance ,more dinamic, easy to write....like these points , and which is the best to use and in which case it is better to use ado and which case better to use edmx briefly i need to see differentiation between ado and linq in both
(web development and Windows development) (ADO vs EDMX)
