Getting started with Volume Rendering using OpenGL[^]

What I have tried:

Hello everyone
in the link at the top the volume display at gray level I want to display it with color by the application of the transfer function but I do not know how I can do that I prefer if there is a method in the CPUs, without the use of shader(GPU)!
