How do I extract alpha channels or alpha paths from photoshop images or tiff images and apply those to the image using java imageio ?

I have psd and tiff images which have some alpha path configured in them. i just want to get that alpha path or mask and apply it to the images

What I have tried:

I am using twelvemonkeys lib and javax.imageio. but i dont know the functions necessary to achieve it
