How to implement SCD type 2 using postgesql

What are the different ways to implement SCD in postgresql as it doesn't have SCD component or a wizard nor it has informatica. Whats the next best way to implement ?

What I have tried:

Used merge command to implement but it does not trigger everytime a change is made.
