Good movie maker software

I have some photos and videos, I need to compile them into one movie. Can you please suggest any free software which helps me compiling my album.

To me, the best option is open-source FFmpeg or related libavcodec utilities:

Do you know what's the best in it? If does it all and has no UI — what a relief!

However, for the UI all I know (and use, but very little of it) is Avidemux, also open-source:
