Validation in gridview

I have a gridview with checkbox & 3 fields in TemplateFields and a button outside the gridview. Two fields are in EditItem Template with asp.net RequiredField Validator. I want to fire the valiadtion only on selection of checkbox, but validation is fired whether checkBox is checked or not.
