Calling applet from asp.net

hi all,

I wanted to call applet from my asp.net page.
I got some examples to call applet in applet code tag or in object tag..
but i just wanted to call function from applet which is on my local machine from java-script.Is it possible??
How can i pass parameter and return values from applet in asp.net?
I want to replace my ActiveX control with java applet.
please anyone help me out..
