Hey programmers,

This might be a silly question but I am facing a text display issue.

I found that there is a difference between text display format in notepad and notepad ++ ( or any better text display tool )

Text in notepad++ is more formatted and aligned properly than that in Notepad.

Does anyone know the reason behind it ?

Thanks

Notepad and Notepad++ are two completely different applications, just their name overlaps a bit.
Incidentally the similarity of their names will help you in finding relative differences (they are in adjacent rows of the tables) inside this comparison page at Wikipedia: "Comparison of text editors"[^].

Notepad++ is not even Microsoft. Notepad is a freebie that Microsoft developed with windows 95. About the only improvement was to increase the amount of text it can display. At one time a megabyte file would be too much for it. Both suck in my mind, although Notepad++ is a lot more capable, its options are messy.

Notepad is a cheap and nasty tool. Notepad ++ was written specifically to be a bit better. You could use Spy++ to work out what the actual differences are, I don't know.
