Passing exception on run time in excel

Hi
I have made a link click here to view report
if a user clicks here he gets an excel file which shows list of all the zip-codes.
the list of the zip -codes are passed to the database.
Now i need that if a user passes invalid zip-code he gets an error "Zip-code is not Valid" & if he enters a duplicate zip-code ,he should get an error" Zip code already exists". The main point is that the error messages should be displayed at the excel sheet.
Any help would be appreciated.

You want to use excel as the editor for zip codes on a website?
