Hello,
I am a beginner at programming and am currently doing a project that requires camera surveillance. I want to know the basics of programming a simple webcam- like the one on a standard laptop. Please forgive the lack of technical terms, I really am out of my depth here! Can anyone suggest techniques or reference sites for beginners? I've searched a whole lot but haven't found anything I really understand. So it would be a lot of help. Thanks in advance!

If you are a beginner, do begin. Start with tagging your platform and language. If you are not familiar with those technical terms :-), then get familiar with them, otherwise you cannot qualify for asking valid questions...

Is it not a bit too ambitious thema for a beginner?

@sergey- all i wanted were possible sites where i could get those technical terms and hopefully solutions, still no luck there :-(. anyway thanks, i came across this forum yest and am not sure about the protocol for asking questions. will try and improve my question after some research :-)
@nelek- it can't be helped. my project requires this. anyway, about the ambition part- never say never, am i right? :-)

Real time tracking. Actually had not much idea since I had been using Replicon's hassle free Project Time Tracking solutions http://www.replicon.com/time-tracking-softwares.aspx[^]

The question is not about "time tracking", it is about "camera tracking in real-time".
