How to create a new drive from the unallocated hard disk space after having done formatting from computer management section?

1 solution

In Computer Management, open the Storage branch.
Then, click on "Disk Management"
Right click on the unallocated area, and select "New Simple Volume".
It's pretty obvious from there!

Yes - a volume needs to be formatted by the OS before it can be used.

"The operation you selected basic disk(s) to dynamic disk(s).If you convert the disk to dynamic, you will not be able to start installed operating system from any volume on disk(except the current boot volume). Are you sure you want to continue?(Yes or No)".
This was the message box that appeared when i clicked on format option and then next button. So,now plz guide me wat 2 do next.wheather i should click yes or no becoz i doubt if i click yes then should i be able to use my rest 3 drives & its files?

That depends, primarily on your OS: Dynamic disks are (probably) a good idea, but they are not supported by all versions of Windows. If you are using Win7 Enterprise, Ultimate, or Professional then yes, you should have no problem. If you are using Home, then no - I don't think it supports dynamic disks. And you can't convert back to Basic without losing all info on the physical media.
