Blogs offering to sigin using Facebook account

I was wondering how one can log onto some blog using facebook account.

Even it allows you to log you in yahoo mail using your facebook account i believe.

How it is possible? How the facebook account is validated by other blog sites.

Is it not vulnerable to let other sites to access personal account details DataBase that belongs to facebook or any other site.

What is happening behind the scene?
