How to use a .tpl file?

Hello guys... I would like to ask how do i use a .tpl file? i just bought a template files but when i try to open the file all of the file inside are name with an extension of .tpl... and its index.html is blank... now i just want to make it run, what i did was just change the extension of the .tpl to .php but no luck i cant make it run... how do i solve this guys? please help....
