how to solve the ERROR: libmp3lame >= 3.98.3 not found

hello guys... im trying to install ffmpeg... all the installation was doing great but when i reached this line i get an error

./configure --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libvorbis --disable-mmx --enable-shared

ERROR: libmp3lame >= 3.98.3 not found

i have tried adding a line in ld.so.conf with a line /usr/local/lib and i checked in that directory if the file

libmp3lame

is present... and its there but why is it i get the

ERROR: libmp3lame &gt;= 3.98.3 not found

any work around for this guys? thanks in advance

Why PHP? Just to justify your question in the programming forum? The question is not about programming -- this is just the advanced usage of system and applications; does not really belong here.

ahh ok sorry... but i finally figure out the problem it needed a 3.98 version lame installed and i installed the 3.97 version thanks anyway
