hi i want to back up my data base incase of power failure
i can do the normal back up but im required to also accomodate the system on system failure

When you have a system failure it is to late for a backup.
You need to plan this and decide on how much loss off data is expectable.
Have a read through this[^] about the disaster recovery options for Microsoft SQL Server.

When the system fails it fails it doesn't wait for a backup to finish. You need to develop your SLA (service level agreements) for the business.

Once the SLA is worked out you'll know when to set backups for! Where I work we do incremental backups every 4 hours and full backups everyday.

BUT make sure you test your backups regulary also!
