hi, i have just installed sql server 2005 in my windows 7.
with instance name sachin and with mixed authentication.
but now i am not able to connect to the sever.

this error window shows whenever i try to connect.

"Cannot connect to sachin.
Additional information:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishment a connection to SQL server. The Server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that sql sever is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named pipes provider, error: 40 - could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL sever, Error: 53)

and never run it before on my pc...
is dis information sufficient??

do i need to configure it before running it?
i just installed it but its not connecting.

hey i checked out d link u gave me..
after reading it.
i turned on my ip/tcp protocol n other service, my firewall is off.
but they said that it will not take effect until this services will b restarted.
so i stop every service and now i m not able to start them againg.
i have restarted my computer. but they r not starting again.
what to do? pls help me....

Instead of adding a new solution add a comment to the original solution. This way the author of the solution gets notified via email and gets your comment.
If you're having problems to start the SQL Server, the 'best' place to look is the SQL Server error logs.

Go to the SQL Server installation folder for the instance and find the ErrorLog file (no extension). Open it in for example notepad and locate any error messages.

If they aren't understandable, you can post a new question (since this most likely is a different problem than you question in this thread).

due to some dll file missing, this kind of error occur... Take another setup of sql server
