OOTB Publish page approval workflow

HI,

In our application we enabled OOTB workflow after editing the page.
1)Edit page
2)Check in to Share draft
3)Send for approval

after clicking on send for approval client getting the message operation in progress and status wont change it remains as operation in progress for long time and only two or three users facing the issue.

log file from production is so big so not able to findout the exact reason also

if any body faced the same issue can you please suggest some general solutions

It will great if anybody can help me out for this
