I am a student of last year BE.I have a experience of working on linux systems.I had configured a mail server using fedora 8.0 and Squirrel mail.I am searching for topic for the last year project.can there be any such topic that can use java and linux..???

There must be thousands, but how can we guess which would be best for you? Take a look at some of the things you do in college and on your Linux system and see if you could write a better version or automate some manual process.

1. Yes, you may use Java on Linux (...run everywhere...:-) ).
2. Java is a complete OOP language with a very rich class library hence you have virtually no escuses limitations: choose a 'teoretically interesting topic' and go on.

x400 messaging and email the concepts are same..i mean i searched abt it on wikipedia..hw tht can be implemented as project...
