It never fails to amaze me that companies/schools allow BEGINNERS to work on infrastucture for enterprise-level outward-facing web sites. The occasional web page, fine, but the basis for the entire web site? It's laughable.

I guess they are cheap or free, a big enough incentive for them to have something than nothing.
