Google API and Excel

Hi.
I need to create a small web application with Google API.
The main role of this application is to show the map of one city and by placing the cursor over the map of this city at some points I need to show data extracted from an Excel DB.
Can you please give me some directions on where to begin and what technologies to use?

Hint: Know your tools! Excel is no database application, but a spreadsheet application.

You are totally right.My data are in Excel spreadsheet and should be shown in different points in google map.Is this possible?

Oh, another remark: What technologies to use... I would suggest you use the ones you master. You didn't mention your knowledge of course, so...
