Using BPEL for Inbound Interface

Greetings,

We are in the process of figuring out what is the best possible technology/methodology to use for interfacing applications (implementing Oracle HRMS) e.g. Time Capturing system with Oracle Time and Labor.

BPEL came up as an option. Can somebody please throw some light on how it can be done using BPEL (just the basic idea or architecture), and what would the prerequisites?

Any help is highly appreciated
