Hi,

Can anyone tell me what Cold Fusion is about? Upon Googling I got to know that it is about a scripting language, creating dynamic web pages, connecting HTML pages to databases.

May I know how old this technology is and any scope for this in the future. Please suggest to me whether I should continue in this or change platforms.

Waiting for suggestions.

Your googling seems to have given you that information.

The last release I could find was July 2009, some time ago but that does not mean it is necessarily outdated.

Perhaps you would get more useful answers if you explained what it is that you are considering using it for and asking for alternatives.

ColdFusion is actually the IDE which has its own compiler. CFML is the mark up language that is used in Web applications. It is used to connect simple HTML pages to the database. ColdFusion has its own application server. Some tags in CFML cannot be understood by the borowser. Such tags are sent to the CF application server which converts that into HTML and its sent back to the web server.

And about the scope there are still web applications using CF.

You do realise that this quesstion is nearly 3 years old?
For information on a well-known (or even not so well-known) software product I recommend trying Wikipedia first (always start with English version) for introduction and further references.

If it did not work well, next step is searching with Google.

In contrast, if this is very specialized technical issue, starting with Google is the best.

On ColdFusion:

In my opinion, tools like that make sense only if you unable to use something more powerful and supportable because your server's configuration is beyond your reach. ASP.NET + ADO.NET along would serve you much better.
