how to traverse the cells of datagrid or through ado?

A totally beginer in MFC related programming
I am using DataGrid and ADO for the functions below. Is there any member function related to these usages?
1.get a certain column, traverse it and save the results to a vector
2.get the currently selected row, then get certain field of this row and save the result in a variable(int or string ....)

You can cheaply buy an ADO .NET recipe book, which will be very helpful.
