Hello Folks.

I try to write novels with the short term objective of not starving to death.

Two of my books are half way through and the text suddently went like this:

O{P03Þ\mJF¼0L›g.‘ÞÀRìS¥$cKR6³úºó;ryVD§ŽDWFV¥‚Oø
P²†vËØDR:†A Ã-]$Xû
Gym
gNu)3=ZÉTLÀ²'D—+ù˜;µxJ’
oþn(k9’.Ý$ÿQ;‹ÕkVä64êh@
ue
{v

Can anybody please tell me what it is and how to revert to text?

The text might originally have been windows or Open Office.
One suspicion I have is that Vista are trying to force me to install and pay them $xhundreds!

It came with my computer but the supplier hadn't paid Windows.

I'll be very grateful for any assistance.

Edited for Grammar and Readability.

The chances are you haven't lost it - you just need to read it using legitimate copies of "windows" (presumably office) and Vista.

I have never experienced what happens when pirate Office and/or OS software finds out it is pirate - for the simple reason that I don't run pirate copies - but if they have stopped working, and insist you pay for them I wouldn't be surprised.

Open Office will not stop working because you haven't paid for it - it is free. Microsoft Office isn't. Vista isn't, Seven isn't, XP isn't.

If you have paid for both and your supplier has delivered pirate copies than that is between you, him, and the legal system.

Thank you Dalek Dave. That is very interesting. I bought the computer from a reputable supplier but just maybe the software was a promotion; a bit like printers with near empty ink cartridges. I took them to task about the latter and made them take the printer back.

I'll try my furry text on an XPpro OS which I do own.

Have a good day.

JB
