I am going to update my windows from windows 7 to windows 10 and I currently have visual studio 2008 with measurement studio 2013.

1.) Can both of these work with windows 10?
2.) If not which do I/should I update to make it work
3.) What is the easiest way to update the studio's if I need to

What I have tried:

I tried searching online for an answer and have been getting contradicting answers.

And what if it doesn't work; regardless of what anyone says?

Are you going to ask for your money back? Restore?

This is like asking if it will rain.

1 solution

Visual Studio 2008: works fine under Win10
Measurement Studio: Can't help, never heard of it - contact the manufacturers and ask them, they will know.

But if you are at all worried, backup your machine first (AOMEI Backupper has a free version which works fine) - you can restore your Win7 setup from that if you have real problems.

The easiest way to upgrade Visual Studio is to search MS for "Visual Studio Community" and follow the links.

Where are these links at?

AOMEI: https://www.aomeitech.com/aomei-backupper.html
Damn good backupper: you save disk images, which you can restore or mount as a drive to look for a particular file. Worth paying for (I did).

Microsoft
VS 2017: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/
Older versions: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/vs/older-downloads/

Be aware that if you open a solution in a later edition, earlier ones may not be able to read the solution / project files again.
