Hello there, I'm new to wordpress development and I'm about to buy two different templates, and my objective is to use one for my home page (kind of a landing page) and another for the blog part of the site. My issue is how to make these two templates work at the same time on my site, if wordpress just allows one theme enabled at a time. Sorry if my question is too vague, it's my first job as a developer and I'm still learning

What I have tried:

I've tried the plugin called multiple themes but it didn't work and apparently it doesn't support my version of wp (which seems to be newer from the versions supported).

We are not wordpress support!
Try to ask wordpress user forum

1 solution

I think your options are the following and can vary based on your technical capabilities.

  • Combine the 2 themes you want to use into 1 so you get Theme A's layout/look and feel for your normal site then Theme B's layout/look and feel for the blog portion

    • This would require some knowledge on your part on developing with wordpress, but you reference wordpress development so I am assuming you are a dev.

  • Contact the plugin provider for multi themes and ask them for support since its their plugin you are attempting to use.
  • Run your site with 2 wordpress installs (probably not best route). Have main site use Theme A, on second wordpress install, make it a sub domain or something like that with its own clean wordpress installation and have it run Theme B for the blog.
  • Downgrade your wordpress install to work with the plugin you found.
