I've been a VB.net programmer for a while now and have good grips of it previously being a VB6 coder (glad I done the switch to .net).
My boss has asked me to do some aspx pages and I said I would take a look as it shouldnt be too bad as I also have some classic ASP experience, mainly for back-end coding behind front-facing ASP pages such as running a report or running a process/log in etc.. and I am familiar with writing DLLs for ASP classic and dlls for VB.NET that run within VB.NET apps, VB6 apps and ASP classic COM objects - so Im pretty ok with my coding - which brings me onto my point - I didnt want to sound thick!
So following ANY tutorials I can find on the internet, I just cannot add a button or type any text into a ASPX webforms application.
Even if i add a new webforms, when it appears its a blank sheet - no dots or anything to indicate any kind of position, if i click somewhere nothing happens, if I click on one of the controls in the toolbox, it selects it, then clicking/drag-holding-releasing) - no controls appears on the webform.
I've been at it for nearly 3 hours - I cannot even find anyone else with the same issue! Which is bonkers - so either I have missed something obvious or Microsoft is upto its old tricks and hiding the obvious and I have to enable something "first" though its bad show if I do - nothing is indicated in any of their tutorials that I can find.
Please help me before I lose my MIND !
What I have tried:
everything other than installing VS2017.
