I recently was asked to modify an application developed with Access 2016.

I have never worked before with this tool, but I do want to try, because it´s for some Friends and I need the money I was offered.
Can somebody give me some hints about what should I do, or indicate me where to find information about the subject.

Of course I can find out by myself, but I would like to save time. My clients do have the .accdb file, which I read it´s the source database, but I cannot Access it in my PC.
I don´t know if I have to install their whole application.

Thanks in advance.

What I have tried:

I´ve been studying a basics Access tutorial. I request the source .accdb file from my clients, but I cannot view it, it sends me errors notificación.

Thank you very much for answering. I accessed the .accdb file via Excel, and I can see a lot of objects in it.

I could see the the information registered in what appears to be table, but there´s another kind of objects, if I doublé-click one of them it sends "DataFormatError:ODBC" when connecting with the app.

What kind of objects does an .accdb file contains ?

ACCDB is an Access database file which contains the tables, views, and whatnot of a database structure, the data in the database, VBA code, reports, ... EVERYTHING you can find if you open the file in Access.

Thanks for replying, Dave. I´m glad to get in touch with you again.

Yes, now I´m aware of what you are telling me, my point is that if I use the DataBase my clients lend me I just cannot open it via Access 2016, here are the facts:

- The DB is a very old one, a backup, and does not have the same name that the one at production level.
- When I try to open it, it seems to start running a series of macros, and suddenly it stops. It gives me the error number 2950 (I just saw what it means). The ID of the macro is "AutoExec", the name of an action is "EjecutarCodigo" and the parameters: "=Settings()" and it focused on the label "Stop executing all macros" (please forgive me if this is irrelevant for get an answer from you).

Tomorrow I´ll ask my clients to lend me a copy of the actual DataBase at production level to see if that´s the reason I cannot Access it. And I think maybe the entire application has to be installed in my PC, otherwise, I can´t see a reason why it is not working properly in my PC.

It sends me the same error if I rename the database just as it should be.
